Cisco Systems' Flip video camera discontinued

With today's rapidly increasing technology, don't be surprised when today's cool new
gadget becomes old and outdated by tomorrow.
According to The New York Times, that is just what happened with the Flip video camera. Flip entered the market in 2007 and "quickly dominated the camcorder market," selling over two million products in the first two years.
On April 11th however, Cisco Systems Inc. announced that it is stopping production on the pocket-size video camera.
"I feel like Flip cameras came onto the scene yesterday," said junior kinesiology major Alyssa Faige. "It's weird just how quickly our technology is moving and even weirder to watch products I grew up with get tossed away."
The end of the Flip video camera could partially be due to new technology that incorporates everything into one. For example, it's nearly impossible to buy a cell phone now that does not also give you a video camera, Internet access, and text messaging.
"Now everything you could ever need is crammed together in one small gadget," said sophomore psychology and history major Richie Green. "It's definitely convenient, but also a little sad. A gadget with one purpose just doesn't cut it anymore."
