My professional journey did not begin with teaching, rather I pursued a degree in journalism and advertising. This allowed me to take my love of writing and apply it in a variety of diverse situations. After writing for several publications I decided to take a different path, which led me to education. I had been a summer camp counselor for years and always had a connection with the students and strong leadership skills, which drew me to education.
