Vann is the man. He is by far the most knowledgeable prof., I've ever had. He literally just talks and if you right down what he says and study a day or two before the exams you'll be fine. There is a lot of material, and sometimes he does go off on tangents... But thats allowed, because he is a boss that has been around the world
took ARCH224 this past spring. NOT WORTH THE CORE CREDITS. Very difficult core class will spend your whole semester in the Architecture library, not very clear on what he wants done for the house analysis project. Not worth the stress
Vann is a very friendly guy, and really loves the subject- I found his courses quite fascinating! His exams are very difficult, you need to study a lot if you intend to pass this class. The majority of your grade is based off WRITTEN exams. You MUST go to class (he takes roll a lot), and gives a few pop tests. I would go to his exam reviews.
Vann doesnt tell you why you are missing points. His exams are difficult but if you study for them then they are ok. For this class he gave alot of useless busy work (unlike his 225 and 226 courses) and he also will never tell you why you are missing points. He basically has you do his research for him too.
Day after drop ended, announced a huge project, no guidance, very very subjective grading on exams - and can't tell you why youve lost points. Doesn't answer emails or show up for office hours, or offer guidance on projects. For a 200 level Humanities credit I put in well over 150 hours in the library for this one class. Avoid at all costs.
Vann is really difficult, but if you take the time and study on a regular basis (not just the night before a exam) you will have no problem doing well. He is difficult, but you learn a lot. |
