Doyle voted SUSA president
SUSA president Brian Doyle knew from the start of high school that he wanted to pursue a career in business, and his new position is a great way to get started in the trade.
"I was interested in business for a while," Doyle said.
Doyle worked his way up the ranks, first as a member of the SUSA finance committee and then he went on to be SUSA vice president of finance.
The role of the SUSA president is to develop a strategy for SUSA as well as to oversee the operations of the organization. The president is the face of the organization and has the responsibility and visibility of any student leader.
Doyle is a junior finance and marketing major from Greenwich, Conn. During his senior year at Greenwich High School, Doyle got an internship at MassMutual Financial Group. His career goals include working in finance or investment banking.
Doyle is managed by David Wilmes, who is the SUSA advisor and the managing director at the Office of Student Engagement at the Smith School.
"I provide him with advice and guidance on how to implement his plans," said Wilmes.
Wilmes and Doyle meet once a week. Wilmes explained that the president of SUSA is basically the CEO, and is key to the whole organization. The president is responsible for choosing the agenda for SUSA, according to Wilmes. Wilmes said that Doyle possesses a lot of knowledge about the process, particularly an understanding of the rules, regulations and policies of the SUSA operations.
"I think that will be a good step forward for SUSA," said Wilmes.
When Doyle is not doing work he spends most of his time playing sports. He is a member of the club lacrosse and club table tennis teams and has also played intramural flag football, basketball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. Doyle enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends, and is a fan of the New York Giants, Yankees, and Knicks.
