The Smith School Women's Society hosts TEK Systems
The Smith School Women's Society hosted recruiters from TEKsystems on Wednesday. The No. 1 IT Staffing and Services company since 2000, the company is looking for driven students interested in a full-time position to be hired right after graduation.
According to Corporate Recruiter Hilary Kleinmeyer, the company made $2.6 billion in 2010 revenue and has seen double-digit growth in the past few years. TEKsystems serves over 5,500 clients and 82 percent of its market consists of Fortune 500 companies.
TEKsystems has over 100 locations in North America, Europe and Asia, with 4,000 fulltime employees worldwide, and 350 in the corporate office in Hanover, Md.
The company is one of five sister companies under Allegis Group, a $5.6 billion enterprise with positive annual growth since its founding, according to TEKsystems.com.
TEKsystems' emphasis on core values is what sets the company apart, said Senior Manager of Operations Robin King.
"We feel that the foundation to truly sense our customers is to build relationships with clients and each other," King said. "We're a very proactive organization—it's a place you can really feel proud of where you work."
The recruiters said employees should be willing to put in the extra effort and go above and beyond for both clients and colleagues. Kleinmeyer stressed the importance of consistent and timely feedback among peers with the hopes of helping each other grow and succeed.
The most common entry-level position, which they are currently hiring for, is Business Operations Associate (BOA). The BOA oversees management and collection of customer accounts, builds and maintains relationships with the customer and accounts manager, and partners with teammates to effectively manage accounts and solve problems. The key component of the position is partnership—employees are expected to work together to come to a common goal.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree or relevant course work and earns hourly wage and quarterly bonuses.
TEKsystems is hiring for many positions including Manager, Supervisor, and Recruiter, which is another entry-level job.
Top clients of TEKsystems are Bank of America, AT&T, Verizon Communication, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Hewlett-Packard, JP Morgan Chase, Northrop Grumman, IBM, Nokia, Boeing, and many more.
All majors are welcome to use TEKsystemscareers.com, where applicants can upload resumes, apply, and make a profile.
The Women's Society's Vice President of Events Rasshmi Shankar says the club will be hosting "How to Network Night" with the Office of Career Services soon.
