SUSA hosts annual New York trip
The Smith Student Undergraduate Association (SUSA) held its annual New York City trip from October 20-21, providing students with the chance to connect with alumni of the Maryland and explore businesses in New York City.
Falin Patel, vice president of events of the SUSA and who attended the trip, said the trip was about, "connecting students with alumni that are working in New York City and giving them the chance to meet with companies and different firms in New York City that they wouldn't get the chance to meet here."
About 80 to 90 students attended, Patel said. On Thursday the students attended an alumni event where students could talk with alumni of Maryland from different sectors of the business world. On Friday, students went on one of five business tracks: accounting, entertainment, finance, consulting and marketing.
Companies such as Citi and Goldman Sachs hosted students. Many of the meetings with the companies were set up through alumni connections, highlighting what Patel emphasized as a trip about making connections.
"The best experience was meeting with the companies and alumni and making connections, you really can't put a value on that," Patel said.
