When Brian Feldman and Matt Meyer created Dank Management Group 10 months ago, they originally intended for the company to provide only music management services.

But instead of going the typical route of merely trying to book shows, they started a Web site. Feldman described DankIdeas.com as "a blog that keeps people up to date with new music, and actually makes people excited about finding out that new music and finding the concert going on."

The blog concentrates on the hip-hop lifestyle; entries spotlight well-known artists' newly released videos, relate information on popular comedians and local shows featuring up-and-coming artists like Chiddy Bang, and offers commentaries on sleek cars.

To Feldman, the most important role of the blog is bringing brand new music to its readers. "If you go to the Web site, you're going to find music that's literally only been released within the last 24 or 48 hours," he said.

The Dank Management Group also specializes in promoting upcoming events in the D.C. area. The latest one in which Feldman and Meyer were called upon to help promote is Dayglow. As described on DankIdeas.com: "On top of [Dayglow] just being a wild-ass club night with gallons upon gallons of glow in the dark paint, there will also be performances by paint drummers, contortion acts, and The Devil From Acapulco."

According to Meyer, while he and Feldman share the long-term goal of becoming managers in the music industry, they needed to create a brand – Dank – to get there. For now, the Web site is their main focus.

"You have to build something before you can just throw yourself into something like that," Meyer said. "We're making strides and making progress."

Feldman says he receives about 100 e-mails a day from new artists trying to get exposure through the Dank brand, along with phone calls from entertainment companies like the one behind Dayglow.

"It's a lot more difficult that you could ever imagine," Feldman said. "Basically, the main thing that we do, anything we ever get into, any project, we always try to do it completely different than anyone has ever done it before."
