There's a new program in Van Munching Hall dedicated to reducing our energy usage. It's called EnergyWi$e. Working with the Office of Sustainability, the program helps students know when to turn out the lights. Tian Tian Feng of the Society for Green Business says, "We've put together a schedule of every classroom so professors will know when to turn off the lights to the classroom, and when to keep them on."
For example, it cost us $10,000 (90,768 kWh) to power Van Munching – last week! Let's see if we can get this number down even further. Here are some helpful tips from EnergyWise: 1) Burn calories, not energy and take the stairs; 2) Only use electric doors when you really need them, because they allow 25 times more heat to escape, which is especially terrible in the winter.
