For those interested in music business, or even just music, the Maryland Music Business Society presents a chance to get involved and make contacts in the field.
“I joined because I love music to begin with, and I was interested in the music industry,” said co-president of MMBS, Prannoy Nambiar, “and because of the people involved.”
People involved include not only the students in the club, but bands that play at MMBS events, and professionals in the music industry that visit to give advice, such as Erica Bondarev, the director of marketing and communications at CSPAC, who will be speaking at an MMBS event later this semester.
Other MMBS events this semester will include a concert at Vito’s Pizza in College Parkfeaturing the Sunnyside Band, and SmithStock, their annual spring show featuring multiple artists, activities and concessions in the Van Munching courtyard.
Brainstorming and planning events like these allows for members to “find out exactly what [their] music identity is,” said vice president of events Evan Wilson.
Students who want to learn more can find more information about the group on the Maryland Music Business Society Facebook page, or at terpmusic.org.
