PwC gives recruiting tips to students

Dori Jamison, a local recruiter for PricewaterhouseCoopers, spoke to a packed classroom at last Tuesday’s Accounting and Business Association meeting.

While most ABA meetings are usually simple affairs, the presence of a recruiter from one of the largest professional service firms in the world brought a massive crowd to VMH 1202.  Over 70 people attended the meeting; a majority of the visitors had to stand around the edges of the classroom as all the seats were taken.

Jamison, the lead recruiter for PwC at the University of Maryland, delivered a presentation talking about landing an internship with the firm.  The main theme she emphasized during her presentation was to “Grow Your Own Way,” a theme that emphasized uniqueness.

Jamison talked about how it was important to establish your “personal brand.”   “What differentiates you from your peers?” she asked the crowd.  She emphasized the importance of making you stand out from other applicants.  She said participating in other internships, finding and establishing a mentor, and doing something unique and extraordinary within the business field could do this.
