Last Tuesday’s lecture by the Ambassador of Vietnam was an offering in the Smith School’s Freshman Fellows Program, and the first in the university’s Ambassadorial Lecture series for this year. A two-year introductory program, the freshman fellows curriculum begins with BMGT 110, Introduction to Businesss, which introduces students to the functional areas of business, and covers current aspects of management in the 21st century, including: Globalization, business ethics, management of technology, social issues in managing technology, entrepreneurship and leadership in the digital economy, strategic supply chain management, and the historical evolution of modern models of business and management.

The Smith School was pleased to partner with the Office of International Programs, to offer this lecture as part of the University’s Ambassadorial Lecture Series, and to welcome students and faculty campus-wide.

Interest in this lecture was very high, as we had registered over 200 undergraduate students to hear the Ambassador’s talk. Among Smith School students  who attended this lecture were our Smith School BMGT Honors program students and student leaders, who are taking part in a winter-term study course on Southeast Asia, visiting Vietnam and Bangkok, taught by Government and Politics Prof. Dr. Lois Vietri, an expert on the Mekong Region, who has led several study trips to Vietnam. Students will travel to Vietnam and Thailand, taking part in site visits, briefings and cultural events, in conjunction with the Smith School’s Thai American Business Study Program.
