The Smith School climbs in U.S. News Rankings

The recently released “America’s Best Colleges 2010” ranked the University of Maryland’s R.H. Smith School of Business # 16 in the nation, moving up from last year’s # 17 spot. Within the category of public schools, Smith ranked even higher, coming in at #9. Major programs were also in good markings. Among the best of the best in specialty categories are as follows;
No. 6 – Management Information Systems
No. 10 – Supply Chain Management/Logistics
No. 11– Entrepreneurship
No. 12 – Marketing
No. 15 – Management
No. 17 – Finance
For undergraduate business school rankings, U.S. News has a specific methodology to rank the programs. In the Spring of 2009, U.S. News locates and surveys deans and faculty members from each undergraduate business school accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. At each school, two deans and faculty members are asked to rate the school’s programs on a scale of 1 – 5, one meaning ‘marginal’ and two meaning ‘distinguished.’ The rankings are then based entirely on the results of this peer survey.
At an ever-expanding school like Smith, we must only look forward to higher rankings
