Troutman Sanders

So summer has finally come to end.  I spent this summer living the New York City life.  As an intern at Troutman Sanders law firm, I got a strong glimpse into the world after college.  Because of my plans to live and work in New York City after graduation, this experience was not only exciting but eye-opening, allowing me to experience what I may be doing in a few short years.

Upon my arrival to Troutman Sanders I was able to quickly adjust to working in an office due to the kindness and welcoming attitudes of the employees.  After settling into my new office I was given a two day training program to prepare me for the tasks I would be performing.  From then on I was considered a part of the Troutman Sanders team.

Throughout the 8 weeks I spent with the firm, I completed various tasks and assignments in their different departments.  With the litigation department, I assisted the paralegals in preparing documents for trial.  Throughout this process I learned a great deal about the trial process and the complications that often arise.  Within the marketing department I helped plan and carry out events relating to women in business.  Each and every member of the departments contributed in making my experience worthwhile and fun.

This internship provided me with a lot more than just a few references.  The ability to experience working in an office in a professional setting before graduation is an opportunity that every student should take advantage of.  Start looking now and apply to jobs that interest you.  The experience gained is something that cannot be achieved in a classroom, and will help prepare you for your future career.

Welcome back to school and good luck with classes everyone!
